Are you someone who sets goals, starts out strong and then inevitably never achieves them? Do you set big lofty goals that sound great but then do not know where to start or how to get there?
There are three types of goals, outcome, process, and identity.
Outcome goals are the goals that you set that are the end game, something like losing 50lbs.
Process goals are the little steps that you set that you do daily or weekly to get to your outcome goal.
Identity goals are about who you must become to achieve your outcome goal.
When you set your outcome goals, you need to make sure they are SMART goals. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time Bound. An example, I want to lose 15lbs by December 31, 2023.
Now that you have your outcome goal, you should set process goals to get to your outcome. These are things like, I will meal prep every Sunday, work out three times a week and walk 10,000 steps daily. We do not recommend that you have more than six process goals as that gets overwhelming.
Next, we want you to work on implementing these process goals. This is setting intention behind your processes. I will meal prep lunches every Sunday for the week. I will work out on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I will walk 10,000 steps every day.
Identity goals are something that takes more work, and we will talk about in our blog next week, so be sure to look for that blog post coming up!
For now, find your outcome and create your process, then put it into action!
Happy goal setting!
